Supernova constraint on self-interacting dark sector particles

چکیده

We examine the constraints on sub-GeV dark sector particles set by proto-neutron star cooling associated with core-collapse supernova event SN1987a. Considering explicitly a photon portal model, we compute relevant interaction rates of (${A}^{\ensuremath{'}}$) and fermion ($\ensuremath{\chi}$) Standard Model as well their self-interaction inside sector. find that even small fine structure constant ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{D}\ensuremath{\ll}1$, self-interactions can easily lead to own self-trapping. This effect strongly limits energy luminosity carried away from core thus drastically affects parameter space be constrained consider specifically two mass ratios ${m}_{{A}^{\ensuremath{'}}}=3{m}_{\ensuremath{\chi}}$ $3{m}_{{A}^{\ensuremath{'}}}={m}_{\ensuremath{\chi}}$ which represent scenarios where decay ${A}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ $\ensuremath{\chi}\overline{\ensuremath{\chi}}$ is allowed or not. For ${m}_{{A}^{\ensuremath{'}}}=3{m}_{\ensuremath{\chi}}$, show this completely evade bounds widely examined for ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{D}\ensuremath{\gtrsim}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}7}$. In particular, range ${m}_{\ensuremath{\chi}}\ensuremath{\lesssim}20\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}$, only applied weakly self-interacting ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{D}\ensuremath{\lesssim}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}15}$. $3{m}_{{A}^{\ensuremath{'}}}={m}_{\ensuremath{\chi}}$, in regions ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{D}\ensuremath{\gtrsim}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}7}$ }\mathrm{MeV}$ evaded similarly. Our findings imply existing light generally eluded similar self-trapping mechanism. also implies nonstandard neutrino not consistent SN1987a observation. Same effects take place other known stellar particles.

Self–Interacting Dark Matter from the Hidden Heterotic–String Sector

It has been suggested recently that self–interacting dark matter fits better the observational characteristics of galaxy dynamics. We propose that the self–interacting dark matter is composed from the glueballs of the hidden sector non–Abelian gauge group, while the hidden matter states exist in vector–like representation and decouple from the light spectrum. It is shown that these glueballs ar...

Self-interacting dark matter from a non-Abelian hidden sector

There is strong evidence in favor of the idea that dark matter is self interacting, with the cross section-tomass ratio σ=m ∼ 1 cm=g ∼ 1 barn=GeV. We show that viable models of dark matter with this large cross section are straightforwardly realized with non-Abelian hidden sectors. In the simplest of such models, the hidden sector is a pure gauge theory, and the dark matter is composed of hidde...

Self-Interacting Dark Matter

Spergel and Steinhardt have recently proposed the concept of dark matter with strong self-interactions as a means to address numerous discrepancies between observations of dark matter halos on subgalactic scales and the predictions of the standard collisionless dark matter picture. We review the motivations for this scenario and discuss some recent, successful numerical tests. We also discuss t...

New constraint on a strongly interacting Higgs sector.

We show that an integral S over the spectral function of spin-l states of the Higgs sector is constrained by precision weak-interaction measurements. Current data excludes large technicolor models; experiments at LEP and ‘SLC will sooi provide more stringent limits on Higgs strong interactions. Planckian Interacting Massive Particles as Dark Matter.

The standard model could be self-consistent up to the Planck scale according to the present measurements of the Higgs boson mass and top quark Yukawa coupling. It is therefore possible that new physics is only coupled to the standard model through Planck suppressed higher dimensional operators. In this case the weakly interacting massive particle miracle is a mirage, and instead minimality as d...
